US of Pickleball: CRBN Unity

This work is a tribute to pickleball as a unifying force, conveyed through the iconic symbolism of the American flag.
- Stripes: Uniform identical rackets, represent equality among players, reinforcing the notion that every participant shares a common experience and value set.
- Stars: The states are symbolized by identical pickleballs, underscoring the idea that no state, and no player, stands alone or above all. Together, players and artefacts are part of a larger collective.

Back side: Painted flag with stars.

This diptych, painted on hardboard with a finished reverse side, marks an evolution from an earlier piece. In this iteration, I incorporated full pickleballs and paddles to deepen the visual and conceptual impact.

"US of PB: Diversity" celebrates pickleball as a powerful symbol of individuality and inclusion. In this piece, the states are represented by "half balls," each painted in fifty distinct shades of blue and varying in size. Positioned beneath the stars, these elements stand distinct yet interconnected, emphasizing both the uniqueness of each state and the diverse players who bring the sport to life.

The paddles, each distinct in style and design, embody the rich diversity of pickleball enthusiasts. From competitive motifs to playful imagery - dogs, watermelons, desert landscapes—they reflect the wide spectrum of personalities and expressions that make the pickleball community vibrant and welcoming. This work invites viewers to embrace the joy, beauty, and complexity of diversity, emphasizing the beauty of diversity and the commitment it takes to sustain it. Available both as an original on canvas and as prints on T-shirts, US of PB: Diversity offers a striking visual representation of unity through the lens of sport and culture.
